New assignment Ideas...

I wanted to use a wider variety of tools for my assignment so I decided to put my old external scene to the side and a meteor crash landing into mountains would be a much better method than to a few planets using a few UVSpheres and texturing them:

(Old scene...)

Week 10 - Noise...

This is a noise effect I have already achieved for my assignment I followed a tutorial on wikibooks and it was clear and easy to understand...

Extra Tutorials - Particle effect...

Neal Hirsig Tutorial helped me to introduce particle effects into a scene. It was presented very clearly on how to edit an exsisting mesh and changing it into a particle effect in the object mode (F7) and by changing a few settings to allow randomness and acceleration to a certain direction in the x,y and z axis etc.

Extra Tutorials - Stars and mist...

Again for this I used the Tutorial from Neal Hirsig, this tutorial was again very useful and stars can be added quite easily by activating the stars tool in the world options and by altering the settings. The mist settings are also avaiable to edit in the world mode to create a sence of Mistiness to a scene.

Extra Tutorials - Textured Background...

To Texture a background I used the background tutorial by Neal Hirsig. It was very easy as the world options and shading options needed to be edited slightly to provide the end result.

Week 8 - 3 Point lighting..

Here I followed the 3 point lighting tutorial on a basic cube, I feel it worked well as the tutorial was very well presented.

I will use 3 point lighting in my assignment to highlight some key objects in my scenes to attract the viewers eye.

Week 7 - Assignment Ideas...

Internal Ideas:

External Ideas:

These are some ideas that I have in mind to base both my internal and external scenes on. As the theme chosen is sifi I have decided to base my scene on space and spaceships etc. I would like to achieve a space scene and also inside of a spaceship looking out into space.

Week 7 - Fork Task...

Again I used the tutorial from Neal Hirsig and I encountered no problems using the Lattice Deformation tool.

Week 6 - Scene challenge...

Heres a scene I created using the previous tutorials...

Week 5 - Disco Challenge...

Here I used the lighting effects to create something similar to the challenge set.

Week 6 - MultipleMaterial Tutorial addition to the rose model...

Here I have used two materials on one object, the tutorial was very clear and I encountered no problems.
I achieved this by adding an additional material on the editing object panel and selecting different faces on edit mode. Then adding them to the new material and applying another shade.

Wee k 5 - Rose Tutorial from Organic Extrusion...

Tutorial from: http://www.gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html

Rose.

This is the rose I created using the above tutorial. I found the tutorial easy to understand as it was described how to use different tools in a step by step process. I didn't find any problems with making the rose model.

Week 5 - Texture and Lighting Tutorial...

This shows the use of the lamp tool.

Lamp with red light.

Marble Texture.

Wireframe Texture.

Transparent Plastic Texture.

This weeks tuorial I found quite easy and I didn't encounter any problems.

Week 4 - Blender Tutorial - Chair and Paperclip...

This is the chair I created using the Blender tutorial. I found this week the most challenging as I found it hard to get to grips on how to bend and stretch the Bezier Curve to the way I wanted. Besides that I found it easy to complete the rest.

This is my attempt at the paperclip excercise again i found this very challenging, due to the Bezier Curve tool, I did manage to complete the task with what looks like a heavly used paperclip.

Week 3 - Rendering and Apple Exercise...

This is a pre made monkey head which I rendered changing the size of the rendered image and the quailty to reduce serrated borders and edges.

Here I used the apple Exercise, and created my own using the proportional editing tool. At first I found the proportional editing tool quite difficult to use as I found it difficult to change a IcoSphere into an apple shape but after a few tries I managed to get to grips with the tool.
For the plate I decided to go my own way about constructing it and to test the diffirent options in the shading side of Blender.
The plate consists of a basic blue circle object (the plate), followed by 2 others both different sizes overlapping the bottom with the halo option selected. This is how I managed to create my own abstract lighting effect around the edge of the plate.
I found these exercises more challenging than week 1 and 2 but I managed to soon understand the new tools used.

Week 2 - Blender Tutorial - Pill and Salt Cellar...

This is the Pill object I created using the Blender Tutorial. I found this very easy to do as I have started to fimiliarise myself with the controls and menus of Blender, the tutorial was as clear last week making the outcome easy to achieve with no major difficulties.

This is a Salt Cellar, to create this object I used half a UVSphere and extruded the bottom edge vertices like for the Pill, this time I scaled the bottom vertices twice as big as the top of the cyclinder. Finally I added a second UVSphere halved and connected it to the bottom of the first object.
I found this easy to do and encountered no difficulties. If I were to try this again I would prefer to create this out of 3 objects istead of 2 allowing me to be able to texture the top different to the rest of the object.

Week 1 - Blender Tutorial - House and Castle.

This is the house example, I found this task quite challenging as im not use to the controls of Blender. However the instructions of the tutorial made it quite easy to complete as it was very clear and easy to understand.

I found the top cube hard to change its top vertices into a spike to create the pyramid on top of the cube below, this was because if you misjudged an ajustment it would be flat at the top or look completely different which was slightly frustrating but overall it wasn't too hard.

The Castle exercise was much easier as it was mainly a matter of duplicating the house object and connecting them to the four corners of a base with evenly distributed space between them.
